"Ragging is any disorderly conduct, whether by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which cause or are likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or junior student and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the psyche of a fresher or a junior student", Supreme Court of India. The anti Ragging Committee of S.B. Deorah College was constituted to prevent any incident of Ragging through various disciplinary measures and create a safe and ragging-free campus for all students attending S. B. Deorah College. The Committee follows the instructions of Anti-Ragging Act of 2009. The Committee holds orientation Programs to raise awareness about stringent Anti-ragging measures and various punishments for offenders under several IPCs as well as to make the Junior students aware of their rights. The new students feel safer under the protection of the Anti-Ragging Act of 2009 which is followed by the committee.
